Window Tint Guide: Get Tinted

Window Tint in Anderson, SC: Films, Prices and the Law

Anderson summers are long and bright. Federal climate normals for Anderson County Airport put the average July high at about 90 degrees, with around 55 days a year reaching 90 or more. Add morning glare on US-76 and I-85, afternoon sun through the driver's window and a dashboard baking in a parking lot, and tint is one of the most practical upgrades you can make.

This page is the short version of everything we do for window tint at The Auto Show, 112 Metro Drive in Anderson: the two LLumar films we install, what they cost, the South Carolina rules we check before any film goes on, and how to book.

The short answer

The Auto Show in Anderson installs two LLumar films: LLumar Carbon from $125.99 and LLumar Ceramic from $199.99, both priced for the two front side windows. Full-vehicle coverage is priced by quote. Film is computer cut for your vehicle, we check the legal shade before installing, and every tinted window gets South Carolina's certificate of compliance sticker. Work is by appointment only, and we tint vehicles up to 8 years old.

Key points

  • LLumar Carbon starts at $125.99 and LLumar Ceramic at $199.99 for the two front side windows; full cars are quoted.
  • South Carolina requires at least 27% combined light transmission on regulated side and rear windows, and we check yours before installing.
  • Each tinted window gets the state's certificate of compliance sticker, which the law requires.
  • We do not tint vehicles more than 8 years old, because aging door seals and trim can break during the job.
  • Appointment only: book online or request a quote, and plan a ride, since there is no waiting area.

Our films

Two LLumar films, two budgets

We keep the choice simple. Both films are made by LLumar, both block UV and reduce glare, and LLumar rates its films to block up to 99% of UV rays. The difference is how much of the sun's infrared heat they turn away, and the price.

LLumar CarbonFrom $125.99, two front side windows
The color is built into the film rather than dyed on the surface, so the charcoal shade stays true instead of fading or turning purple. The affordable choice when you mainly want the look, privacy and glare control. Carbon vs ceramic, in depth
LLumar CeramicFrom $199.99, two front side windows
Nano-ceramic particles reject more of the sun's infrared heat, so the cabin stays cooler without needing the darkest shade. The better fit for long commutes, dark interiors and cars that sit in the sun. Is ceramic worth the extra?

Prices

What window tint costs here

Our published prices are for the two front side windows: from $125.99 in LLumar Carbon and from $199.99 in LLumar Ceramic. That is the most common job, because the front doors are where the driver feels the sun and glare most, and where factory glass is usually lightest.

Full-vehicle coverage, meaning the rear doors, quarter windows and back glass as well, depends on how many windows the vehicle has, their size and how curved the back glass is. We price it by quote. Tell us the year, make and model and which windows you want, and we will give you a number before you book.

We do not quote other individual windows on this page. If you want something specific, ask us and we will tell you what is possible on your vehicle.

The law

South Carolina rules we check before installing

South Carolina's tint law, S.C. Code § 56-5-5015, is short but strict. On the front side windows, the windows behind the driver and the rear-most window, the film combined with any factory tint must let through at least 27% of visible light, and the film must be nonreflective. Red, yellow and amber film is not allowed. On the windshield, film may only run along the top and may not extend below the AS-1 line; if the line is not visible, no film may go on the windshield.

Two details trip people up. First, the 27% is combined: a 35% film on glass that already passes 75% of light lands at about 26%, below the limit. Second, the rules for windows behind the driver do not apply to multipurpose passenger vehicles such as most SUVs and minivans, but they do apply to pickup trucks.

That is why we check the legal shade for your vehicle before we install anything. Factory privacy glass already reduces light, and the shade that is legal on one car can be too dark on another.

This is a summary, not legal advice. For an unusual vehicle or situation, check with SCDPS or a lawyer.

Our process

How a tint job runs at our shop

  1. Book

Book online or request a quote. A deposit confirms the appointment; the amount and the cancellation policy are shown when you book.

  2. Legal shade check

We confirm what shade is legal on each window of your vehicle, accounting for factory glass.

  3. Computer cut

Film is computer cut for your vehicle's windows instead of hand trimmed on the glass.

  4. Install

The glass is cleaned and the film applied to the inside surface. We confirm timing for your vehicle when you book.

  5. Compliance sticker

Each tinted window gets South Carolina's certificate of compliance in the lower right corner, as the law requires.

  6. Pickup

Check the stickers and ask about aftercare, such as how long to keep the windows up. Drying time varies with temperature and humidity; we confirm the details for your film when you book.

Who we tint

Vehicles we can and cannot tint

We do not tint vehicles more than 8 years old. Door seals, window felts and interior trim become brittle with age and sun, and removing or working around them on an older car is likely to break something. We would rather tell you up front than hand back a car with a cracked panel.

If you have a medical condition that may call for darker film, South Carolina allows an exemption with an affidavit from a licensed physician or optometrist. Bring the paperwork and ask us before you book, so we can talk through what applies to your vehicle.

Local driving

Why tint makes sense around Anderson

  • Sunrise and sunset glare on east and west stretches of I-85 and US-76 hit the side windows as well as the windshield.
  • Heat: a car parked at work or at a Clemson game in summer sun turns into an oven, and ceramic film cuts the infrared part of that load.
  • UV: the Skin Cancer Foundation notes that side and rear car glass does not block UVA well, which is why it recommends UV window film as part of sun protection.
  • Lake Hartwell days mean hours parked in open lots, where interiors fade and crack.
  • Crossing into Georgia: tint legal in South Carolina is not automatically legal in another state, so ask us if you split time across the line.

Booking

How to get on the schedule

We work by appointment only. Book online through our booking page, or request a quote if you want a full vehicle priced. There is no waiting area, so plan a ride for the time your car is with us. If you need to drop off after 6 pm, call (864) 202-6934 and we can arrange it.

Before your visit, clear out the door pockets and the rear deck, and remove anything stuck to the inside of the glass you want tinted. Our preparation guide has the full checklist.

Common questions

How much does it cost to tint a whole car in Anderson?

We price full-vehicle tint by quote, because the number and size of windows and the shape of the back glass vary so much. For reference, our two front side windows start at $125.99 in LLumar Carbon and $199.99 in LLumar Ceramic. Request a quote with your year, make and model for an exact figure.

Do you tint windshields?

South Carolina only allows film along the top of the windshield, above the AS-1 line, and none at all if that line is not visible. Ask us about your vehicle. If your goal is better visibility in rain, our IGL Ecocoat Window glass coating for the windshield is $100 and goes on the outside of the glass.

Can I wait at the shop while my windows are tinted?

No. We do not have a waiting area, so plan a ride or arrange to be dropped off. If evening drop-off works better for you, call (864) 202-6934 and we can arrange drop-off after 6 pm.

Do you serve Greenville, Easley and Clemson?

Yes. Many customers drive in from around the Upstate, including Greenville, Easley, Clemson, Pendleton, Belton, Williamston and Powdersville. The work is done at our Anderson shop at 112 Metro Drive, Suite B, by appointment only.
